This is a pretty common style, so it works for a lot of toilet paper holders as well as towel holders.

00:00
hey kids hey uh so nice to see you again
00:04
uh thank you for your support for my
00:06
channel and for
00:07
uh the announcement of my book i’m
00:09
really excited about
00:10
um getting that out and getting it into
00:12
your hands so just wanted to say
00:14
a sincere thank you for the great
00:15
response that i had to that
00:17
um so today i’ve actually seen recently
00:20
on my channel people asking
00:21
a couple people and so i thought i’d
00:22
just go ahead and do it um how to put up
00:25
a
00:25
paper towel holder or sorry a toilet
00:28
paper holder and
00:30
uh like a towel rack they kind of work
00:33
the same way
00:34
and if you’ve never you know dealt with
00:36
them before the way they work is
00:38
they have these little these little
00:41
screws at the bottom
00:43
that they do such a good job of hiding
00:45
that’s what’s holding them up there’s a
00:47
little attachment on your wall
00:49
and then you put this on and then you
00:50
screw these things these little screws
00:52
in to tighten it down
00:55
they do such a good job of hiding them
00:57
because you don’t want to see them you
00:59
know they don’t want to be noticeable
01:00
but
01:00
they kind of hide them from you if
01:02
you’ve never seen if you know you didn’t
01:04
know how they were installed they do
01:05
such a good job of hiding them that
01:07
you don’t know they’re there so uh
01:09
anyway i remember
01:11
you know way back when when i first
01:12
discovered them i was like oh okay
01:14
that’s pretty clever but
01:16
yeah so anyway and they’re all kind of
01:18
designed that same way anything that has
01:20
a bar running across it
01:21
um you know like this it has a spring so
01:24
they’re
01:25
but like a towel rack it’s kind of just
01:27
wedged in between there
01:28
a lot of towel racks you know so this is
01:30
going to be
01:31
for the most part right not every towel
01:33
rack is going to be designed this way
01:35
but most paper
01:36
there are most toilet paper uh roll
01:39
holders
01:40
are and so anyway so we’re gonna we’re
01:42
gonna do that but
01:43
but first i have a dad joke for you so
01:46
someone broke into the local police
01:48
station and stole the toilet
01:50
the cops have nothing to go on ah
01:53
so let’s get started
01:56
okay so here’s a pretty
02:00
normal uh toilet paper rack
02:03
and a towel holder works the same these
02:06
are pretty common there’s a little
02:08
variations like
02:09
uh what you unscrew it with and i’m
02:12
going to show you that so this one this
02:13
particular one
02:15
is a little flathead screwdriver but
02:17
it’s hidden up underneath here they hide
02:19
them obviously so
02:22
so they don’t stick out so it looks nice
02:24
but uh
02:26
but some people don’t know that they’re
02:27
there when they
02:29
need to replace them right so obviously
02:32
you know if your kid
02:33
is here and he’s hanging on it it’s not
02:35
meant for that
02:36
it’s meant to hold a roll of toilet
02:38
paper right or or a towel again the
02:40
towels work
02:41
kind of the same way so i don’t think
02:43
you necessarily need to get into a stud
02:45
with one of these but let me show you
02:47
how
02:47
how these are mounted and it’s pretty
02:49
common like i said so
02:51
just remove that and then just right up
02:53
underneath here
02:54
you’ve got some screws let me get it
02:56
started and then i’ll back off here
03:01
okay so basically i’m just unscrewing it
03:03
there
03:07
like that and that’s it that’s what
03:10
those look like
03:10
underneath there so basically then you
03:12
got a couple screws
03:14
right and i think all i did here
03:18
drill is i just
03:22
i think i just used
03:24
[Music]
03:27
my sheetrock screws i did
03:32
come on yeah so you can see
03:36
i just used my sheetrock screws here for
03:39
that
03:39
right and so all that happens is this
03:42
just mounts there like that
03:44
and then those covers go over the top
03:46
like that
03:47
and then uh you just tighten it up
03:50
underneath
03:51
and i’m gonna show you my other one my
03:53
other bathroom because it’s just a
03:54
little bit different this one’s a
03:55
flathead the other one uses an allen
03:57
wrench underneath but that’s where those
03:59
are and that’s what that mount
04:00
it’s pretty standard how that looks on a
04:03
toilet paper rack
04:04
on a towel rack anything that’s like
04:06
this
04:07
so if you’re installing it for the first
04:08
time you do got to figure out you know
04:10
the distance between so that this thing
04:12
sits in here and springs good right um
04:16
but anyway that’s how those work if
04:18
you’ve got one up there already
04:20
you just gotta look underneath and
04:21
figure out how to unscrew it so i
04:22
thought i would just go ahead and show
04:24
you this
04:25
how this mounts right so again just got
04:28
your sheetrock screws
04:29
if you i think if uh with a paper or
04:32
with a towel holder
04:33
um probably paper towel holders some
04:36
paper towel holders would work the same
04:37
way too
04:38
but anyway if you got something that’s
04:39
gonna have to hold a lot of weight it
04:42
would be nice to get
04:43
into a stud if you can on at least one
04:46
side
04:47
right but if you can’t these things work
04:49
really well and as long as your kids
04:50
aren’t hanging on them
04:52
you should be fine so basically we’re
04:54
just going to put that in
04:56
put this one in here
05:00
okay and then we can screw that in
05:12
like that and then this guy just fits
05:14
over the top like that
05:16
and then that screws back in from the
05:22
bottom
05:24
actually let me show you this so this is
05:26
what’s going on here
05:28
you can see there’s a this little screw
05:30
right here right that’s just kind of
05:32
popping up in there and just holding it
05:34
okay so let’s go ahead
05:36
put that back on and it’s just clamping
05:39
up underneath this thing
05:40
right there’s a little bevel here and it
05:42
just screws right up in to hold it
05:50
okay
05:56
i think that little door key that i used
05:59
to unlock your bathroom door would
06:00
probably work for this one too but
06:02
anyway that’s how that works so i just
06:05
snug it up
06:06
there you go and then i put this back on
06:10
and let’s see here
06:14
and since i’m here uh
06:17
this is how i put a roll of toilet paper
06:19
on for you kids
06:21
uh so put the roll where the
06:25
um this might be fights in your in your
06:28
marriage so
06:29
just in case this is this is where i
06:31
weigh in on this
06:32
this i want to come over the top right
06:34
because if you put it the other way
06:36
like this you’re fighting for where the
06:39
where the roll is right or where it ends
06:41
where if you do it this way
06:43
then it comes out and it comes off right
06:45
off the top okay
06:46
then you pull it you tear it it’s always
06:48
there if it’s on the back side then
06:51
you might be looking for it so okay
06:54
you see this screw right here that’s
06:56
what we’re trying to do
06:57
right and the on the other one it’s an
06:59
allen wrench but this is what
07:01
we’re see how it’s a flat head and
07:03
you’re basically just
07:05
unscrewing it and then that pops that
07:07
off and then you screw it back in once
07:09
you have it
07:10
have it mounted so i just wanted to show
07:12
a close-up of that
07:15
okay the way this one works is it’s an
07:18
allen wrench
07:19
okay so an allen rinse just looks like
07:21
that
07:22
okay and you can buy these sets
07:25
differently they come
07:27
sometimes they come like this where it’s
07:30
uh it’s all they’re all stuck together
07:32
like this and you just pull them out
07:34
and use them but for this particular one
07:36
it makes it awfully hard to get to it
07:38
and
07:39
and work it around with this big fat
07:40
thing at the bottom
07:42
the nice thing about it is you don’t
07:44
lose allen wrenches
07:45
because they’re all here right um and
07:48
this one
07:49
uh is part of a set um and the set
07:52
actually has lost a couple
07:53
um i’m sure i just didn’t put them back
07:56
so
07:56
uh but it sure is handy it’s a lot
07:58
easier to work these
08:00
with with this style because i don’t get
08:01
that big handle fighting it right to
08:03
move it back and forth so
08:05
let’s go ahead and remove that guy
08:11
okay and then stick that up there
08:23
okay and you can turn these around
08:26
right depending on the situation you can
08:29
turn it and use the long one or you can
08:30
use the short one
08:32
they’re kind of nice
08:35
i could fight with it a little bit but
08:38
you’ll get it
08:40
okay so it’s off and again it works the
08:42
same way where it’s got that little
08:44
thing it’s got that little screw at the
08:45
bottom
08:46
right in this case it’s an allen wrench
08:48
and that just fits over the top like
08:50
that
08:52
and then screws in okay
08:55
all right so i hope that was so helpful
08:58
for you you know those
08:59
little hidden screws up underneath there
09:01
if you don’t know they’re there
09:02
yeah and now you know uh you know and if
09:05
uh
09:06
if you are mounting it to sheetrock and
09:09
you know your kids hang on it um it’s
09:11
gonna fall fall down probably right
09:14
so you might have to move it um and uh
09:16
and if it’s only going into sheetrock
09:18
you prob might have to patch those holes
09:20
and move it over just a little bit
09:22
so you get um you know a good solid grip
09:24
into the new sheetrock
09:26
um yeah and on a longer one like i said
09:29
you want to try to get into a stud maybe
09:31
on one side at least
09:33
if it’s going to hang hang more weight
09:35
uh it’s not a monkey bar so it’s
09:37
nothing to hang on it but it will hold
09:39
up a towel right
09:40
um anyway so i hope that was helpful for
09:43
you thanks for watching and god bless
09:45
you
