If you’ve ever stepped foot into the infamous red room at Barry’s Bootcamp, you know that the workout is not for the faint of heart. An advanced combination of cardio and strength training, a sweat session at one of the iconic studios will leave you gasping for air, projectile sweating out of your pores, and in a state that can only be described as muscular agony. But… endorphins! Results! There’s something that keeps devoted fans coming back for more—and it’s not just the Fuel Bar smoothies or the Oribe shower products. And now, you can do this amazing workout at home.
This 25-minute iteration of the signature studio workout is truncated, but just as challenging. It eliminates the dumbbells, treadmill, and other equipment that a Barry’s class usually includes, so all you will need is some space to move (bonus points if you have a yoga or exercise mat, and a towel—you’ll thank us later for that one). Consider this an express, no-equipment version of their Full Body workout. In under half an hour, you’ll target all the muscle groups, get your heart rate up, and probably want to make yourself a protein recovery smoothie after you’re done.
Ready to sweat? Press play for the hardest Barry’s Bootcamp workout I’ve ever tried:
Sashah Handal makes this workout approachable and accessible, and uses classic moves like jump lunges and mountain climbers, but then takes them up several notches with burpees and “squat suicides.” Those who’ve taken the class have said they are left looking like they went swimming—“hardest HIIT I have ever tried,” and “super, super difficult.”
A brief reminder, just to make sure you’re not totally scared off. Yes, HIIT is… high intensity. And it’s super challenging, and super sweaty, and sometimes feels like “death,” but it’s also really worth it HIIT is one of the best ways to take care of your cardiovascular system (in a short period of time)—your heart, your lungs, your oxygen capacity and flow… all of it will benefit. And you can lower both your blood pressure and your blood sugar—so it’s torture with purpose, okay?
Now that you’ve crushed the hardest Barry’s Bootcamp workout, too, don’t forget to help your body cool down.
