The Tribest Slowstar SW-2000 runs at a slow 47rpm to deliver the best possible cold press juice results at home. It uses a duo-blade auger that causes minimal oxidation so you can create high-quality, healthy juices even if youve never used a juicer before.

Just because it runs slow doesnt mean its not powerful! In fact, the 3-stage motor produces 2 to 3times more force than comparable juicers which means fewer jams. This is the main reason why this juicer is so effective and why its able to operate at such a low speed.

A large chute opening makes prep work easy. Now, you dont have to cut ingredients up quite as small. The juice cap is also really convenient because you can adjust the flow leaving the machine to fill up multiple containers with no spills. Also included is a mincing attachment for making everything from salsas to frozen sorbets.

Some users commented that this juicer produces a lot of foam and pulp and cant handle very fibrous ingredients like celery. Another downside? The auger and some of the other pieces can be a bit of a hassle to clean after every use.

Because little to no heat is generated, this juice is high in living enzymes and can last up to 72hours in your refrigerator without nutrient degradation.

The slow rpm and powerful motor make this the best juicer for celery. The juicing process was actually designed to replicate chewing. The large teeth of the gears act as the powerful molars. Omega Juicers CUBE300S has a space-saving square design thats great if you dont have a lot of room to spare on your kitchen counter. The 80 rpm low speed keeps the operating temperature cool so no heat gets transferred to the juice, preventing it from degrading and losing any of the beneficial nutrients and enzymes.

It also has an automatic pulp ejector that gets rid of all the bulk left behind so you can juice continuously for faster results. Plus, it makes cleanup easier since theres less pulp to cope with.

This juicer comes with five different nozzles and a homogenizing cone so you can use it to make much more than juice. Good for: citrus fruits

OVERALL RATING: 8.8 out of 10

One reason why the Hamilton Beach 932 is the best citrus juicer is because thats what it was designed for. In fact, this manual, commercial-grade juicer provides up to 2,000pounds of pressure in one press to extract as much juice as possible from lemons, limes, oranges, and grapefruits.

This is one of the easiest juicers to use. Just cut the fruit in half, insert it rind up into the juicer, and squeeze. Even though youre exerting a lot of force on the juicer, the Sure Grip feet keep it in place so it doesnt slide or tip while in use.

The juicer comes with an attached collection cup that sits directly below the spout to avoid any messes and swings out of the way when you want to use your own cup or container. Plus, the acid-resistant juice cup, strainer, and funnel are all easily removed for cleaning.

One downside is the cup clearance is only 5.5inches so you wont be able to fit a large collection container under the spout. That said, since this is a manual juicer, its unlikely youll be creating large quantities of juice that will require a really large container.

There are a few downsides to this juicer. Some users felt that cleaning was a little difficult and some of the plastic pieces are prone to breaking.

Nevertheless, if you aim for the best manual juicer for oranges, lemons, and other citrus fruits, this juicer would be a great pick.

  • Commercial-grade manual citrus juicer
  • 2,000pounds of pressure for better results
  • Easy to use
  • Movable collection cup
  • Acid-resistant finish on parts that touch the fruit

  • Small collection cup clearance
  • Only for citrus
  • Cleanup is tedious
  • Plastic pieces break easily

  • Type of juicer: motorized citrus press
  • Wattage: 110W
  • Speed: not specified
  • Warranty: 1-year

Good for: citrus fruits

OVERALL RATING: 8.7 out of 10

The best electric citrus juicer is the Breville 800CPXL, a compact electric citrus press thats the perfect size for your countertop. Even though this juicer has an industrial strength motor, its whisper quiet so you can make juice without waking up the whole house.

One of the coolest things about this Breville juicer is the active-arm system that lets you juice any size citrus fruit using the same cone. Whether its a small lime or a jumbo-sized grapefruit, the arm holds it in place for maximum juice extraction. Thats not all; it also has a power-assisted lever that makes the process practically effortless. That said, there are safety features in place, too. The cone wont spin until the triple-hinged arm is pushed down and enough pressure is applied.

To control the flow of the juice, this machine has an easy-to-use drip stop spout. Just push the spout up when you want to stop the flow and release it when you have another glass in place. The juicing cone is acid resistant so there isnt any corrosion or wearing away over the life of the juicer. Plus, its dishwasher safe to help make cleanup easier.

The biggest complaint that users have is that the machine overheats. Plus, the 1-year warranty is significantly shorter than comparable juicers.

  • Whisper quiet
  • Active-arm system works with everything from limes to grapefruits
  • Drip stop spout
  • Cone is dishwasher safe

  • 1-year warranty is less than other models
  • Overheating is a common concern of users

  • Type of juicer: centrifugal
  • Wattage: 800W
  • Speed: 12,500RPM
  • Warranty: 3-year limited

Good for: fruits and vegetables

OVERALL RATING: 8.5 out of 10

The best cheap juicer we found is the Hamilton Beach 67601A. Because this juicer has an extra-wide chute, most fruits and vegetables can fit in whole so you can spend less time prepping and more time juicing. It works great with even hard fruits and vegetables though some users had a difficult time with leafy greens. An extra-large pulp bin allows for continuous juicing without having to stop frequently for emptying.

This machine was made for convenience. A high juice spout lets you use a range of different sized glasses and containers but youll have to provide your own. Theres no juice collection container included which means that things can get a little messy. Some users reported that the pulp was a little too wet which made the machine a little difficult to clean up. This despite the fact that all of the removable plastic parts are BPA-free and dishwasher safe. It comes with a cleaning brush with micro-soft bristles that are ideal for getting all debris out of the basket.

This is an effective and powerful machine and, as such, it tends to run a little louder than other models. Considering that this is the best budget juicer, though, the 3-year warranty is pretty generous when compared to some other models that are more expensive and only covered for 1year.

  • Affordable
  • 3-inch wide chute lessens prep time
  • Extra-large pulp collection bin
  • High juice spout accommodates different containers
  • Easy to clean
  • 3-year warranty

  • No juice collection container included
  • Can be messy
  • Loud during operation
  • Not good with leafy greens
  • Cleanup can be tedious

Buying Guide

Whether youre just getting interested in juicing or youre ready for an upgrade, this guide will help you figure out what to look for to find the right one for you.

Advantages of having a top-quality juicer

There are a lot of reasons why its worth investing in a top-quality juicer but the main one is pretty simple. They make better tasting, more nutritious juice.

Lets take a deeper look at some of the other great features the high-quality juicers have to offer.

Features to consider when choosing a juicer

When it comes to choosing a juicer, there are a lot of things to think about. For example, the best orange juicer is going to be a little different than the best juicer for carrots. Here are the main things you need to know.

Type of juicer

There are generally two different types of juicers, centrifugal and masticating.

Centrifugal Juicers

Centrifugal juicers like the Breville BJE820XL Juice Fountain Duo are the most common today primarily because theyre much more affordable than their masticating counterparts. They use blades that rotate at a super high speed to extract juice which then passes through a screen to filter out the pulp, seeds, and skin before it comes out of the spout, ready to drink.

These juices are great with fruit but are not as effective with most vegetables, especially leafy greens or very fibrous things like celery. That said, with the right ingredients, theyre very fast and can make a large volume of juice in only a few minutes.

If youre looking to buy your first juicer, a centrifugal design is a much better choice. Theyre very easy to use and cleanup is fast and efficient. In fact, with most models, you can put some of the pieces right in the dishwasher.

There are some downsides. The main issue is that centrifugal juicers spin so fast, the motor generates a decent amount of heat. This heat transfers to the juice and can affect the quality and nutrition. Plus, the sheer speed of the turning blade introduces a lot of air which significantly reduces the shelf life. In fact, its usually recommended that you drink the juice from a centrifugal juicer right away while its still fresh.

Masticating Juicers

Masticating juicers, like the Tribest Slowstar SW-2000, are designed to work like human teeth which is exactly how they got their name. Juice is extracted through slow movement of gears moving together under a lot of force. The idea is that, because they run more slowly, they generate less heat so the juice doesnt get exposed to high temperatures throughout the whole process. Thats why another name for them is cold-press juicers.

Because the juice is produced without the introduction of any heat and air, it lasts for much long. In most cases, it can be kept in the refrigerator for up to 72hours. Its also believed that these juices keep more of the nutrients and enzymes that can be altered or destroyed by high temperatures.

Masticating juicers produce more juice than centrifugal juices from the same amount of produce. Plus, because of their chewing action, theyre a lot better with fibrous ingredients like celery or wheatgrass. Thats not all, the best cold press juicers can also be used for other things like making baby foods, nut butters, sorbets, and even pasta with the right attachments.

One downside to masticating juicers is the price. Theyre the most expensive type and can be very difficult to clean. The tradeoff is better quality juice and appliance that can be used to make much more than juice.

Single Auger vs Twin Gear

Pouring a Glass of Fresh Organic Green JuiceIf youre new to juicing, you dont really need to worry about this too much but if youre ready to upgrade to the ultimate juicer, you should look for a twin gear. While a single auger uses one rotating tool to juice, twin gear designs use two smaller gears that rotate against each other for more effecting juicing. Be aware that twin gear juicers are some of the most expensive models out there but if you like to use a lot of veggies and wheatgrass in your juice every morning, its worth the investment.

Other Types

We included two juicers in our reviews that dont really fit into these categories. The first one is the Hamilton Beach 932, a manual juicer that was specifically made for citrus fruits. While this doesnt have the versatility or power of a masticating or centrifugal juicer, its a perfect choice if youre looking for something to use in your home bar or at the breakfast table for orange juice every morning. The truth is some people just want something simple. This is it.

Another simple machine is the Breville 800CPXL, a motorized citrus press thats also specifically made for citrus fruits. This juicer resembles a manual juicer. It has a citrus cone and a pull-down press. The different is that the cone rotates to help get out as much juice as possible. Again, this isnt a good choice if you want a machine that can make endless recipes with dozens of ingredients but if youre looking for a simple citrus option, you have some options.

Speed and motor power

Speed and motor power vary depending on which type of juicer youre talking about. Centrifugal juices usually have different settings that ranger between 6000 and 13,000rpm. Thats much faster than a masticating juicer that spins between 80and 100rpm.

This speed affects the power, too. Masticating juicers tend to have a wattage of around 100 to 200 while centrifugal juicers can go as high as 1200.

Dimensions and weight

best-juicers-4-Smeg-SJF01CRAU_11-e1518521184898Dimensions and weight are particularly important when it comes to whether or not youre planning to store your mixer between uses. If you plan to leave it out on your countertop, make sure that you have enough room for it. Some of these models take up a lot of space and can take up a lot of valuable area in your kitchen. By the same token, if youre going to tuck it away in a cupboard after each use, you need to know that you have a place where it will fit.

Weight is important, too. There are a few models that weigh upwards of twenty pounds. Thats not necessarily a lot but its enough that you dont want to have to worry about lifting it to a high shelf every time youre done using it.

Chute size

If theres one thing that can make juicing easier for you, its chute size. Why? Because the bigger the chute size, the less prep work you have to do. Believe it or not, some of these machines have openings that are a full 3-inches wide and can accept a whole apple, from the core to the skin. Its much easier to place a whole piece of fruit into a juicer than spend a half hour or so cutting ingredients into smaller pieces before you can start juicing.

For people who know in their heart that they arent going to feel like cutting up small pieces of fruit before juicing every morning, getting a juicer with a large chute size is key to making sure you get a juicer youre actually going to use.

What you can use it for

Most of these machines can only be used for making juice. That said, there are a few that can fill a lot of roles in your kitchen. For example, the Omega Juicers NC900HDC includes several attachments so you can do a lot of different things with it. In addition to being the best juicer for greens, it can also make baby food, nut butter, nut milk, sorbets, salsas, grind herbs and spices, and even extrude pasta with additional attachments.

Do you need a juicer like that can do all these things? Not necessarily but if you like to cook and spend time creating in the kitchen, its something to think about and is likely worth the investment. Plus, it helps eliminate clutter because instead of using multiple appliances to make all of these things, youll only need the one.

Ease of cleaning

Some people dont mind cleaning but there are a lot of people who prefer easy, hassle-free maintenance. If you know that youre less likely to use a juicer thats a bit of a pain to clean, make sure you get one that is as easy to maintain as possible - if this is important, read our guide to the best easy-to-clean juicermodels.

If this is a concern, consider a centrifugal juicer. Theyre much easier to take apart for proper cleaning and most of the parts that come in contact with food and juice are dishwasher safe.

Masticating juicers can be very tedious to clean. Keep that in mind when making your decision. The truth is no matter how much you love your juicer, if you dread cleaning it, youre going to use it less and less. Before you know it, it will be sitting in your cupboard because using it is just too time-consuming.

Extra accessories and attachments

As we mentioned, there are a few juicers on our list that can be used for a variety of things in addition to juicing, like the Omega Juicers CUBE300S. These juicers include all the different attachments necessary to create all these different things.

There are some common things that come with a lot of these juicers, though. Most include a container or jug to collect the juice as well as pushers to advance any fruit and veggies that might get held up in the chute. Some include cleaning brushes and scrapers as well to make clean up just a little easier.

Noise level

Juicing - woman making apple and green vegetable juice using juiWhen it comes to noise, centrifugal juicers cannot be ignored. Theyre fast, theyre powerful, and they make a lot of noise. You wont be able to use this juicer early in the morning without worrying about waking up everyone in your house.

On the other hand, masticating juicers are surprisingly quiet. Because they rotate slow and steady, they dont make a lot of noise and arent at all disruptive.

Of course, the quietest options are the simple citrus presses. Both the manual and mechanical options are super quiet and wont bother anyone.

This is another really important thing to think about before you decide what kind of juicer you want to buy. Weve mentioned that masticating juicers are significantly more expensive than centrifugal models but you really need to take the warranty information into consideration. Why? Because masticating juicers are covered under warranty for much, much longer than centrifugal juicers.

Heres a good example. The Tribest GSE-5010 is a masticating juicer that comes with a 12-year warranty while the Breville BJE820XL Juice Fountain Duo is a masticating juicer thats only covered for 1year.

There are pretty obvious reasons for this. Centrifugal juice extractors rotate so fast that theres a lot of wear and tear internally. Of course, theyre going to have a shorter warranty than a slow and steady masticating design.

One more thing about warranties is its very important to make sure you know whats covered and what isnt. Read the manual carefully because if you unknowingly void the warranty and then something goes wrong, youre not going to be very happy.

Here are some tips and tricks to help you get the most out of your juicer.

  • If your juicer does not come with a collection bowl, make sure to choose a container that fits the machine properly. If not, youll end up with juice all over your countertop.
  • For best results with soft fruits like bananas and kiwi, try alternating them with ingredients that are more fibrous, like apples or carrots. The fiber will help push the soft fruits through.
  • Remember, if youre using a centrifugal juicer, you should drink the juice right away. Juice from a masticating juicer can be refrigerated for up to 72hours.
  • To help avoid stains from highly pigmented vegetables like beets or carrots, try finishing your juice with a little bit of lemon.
  • Clean your juicer roughly after every use. This includes everything that comes in contact with food and juice as well as wiping the surfaces to remove any sticky residue. Remember, its much better to clean when the debris is still wet. Once it sits, it dries on and its harder and harder to remove.
  • If you use your juicer more than once a day, you can take the removable parts off and store them in the refrigerator in a container or plastic wrap between uses then do a thorough cleaning after the last juice of the day.
  • If you do have to deal with stuck on food, try a short soak in warm water for before attempting to scrub again. Dont let any metal parts soak too long as they can rust.
  • Dont place anything in the dishwasher unless the manufacturer says its dishwasher safe. This is a quick way to void your warranty.
  • Most juicers come with cleaning brushes but to do a thorough job, youll need to use a few more tools. For example, unused toothbrushes and nail brushes are ideal for getting stuck on debris from small nooks and crannies. Youll also need a soft scraping tool, soft cloth, and easy access to hot running water.
  • Make sure you unplug the juicer before you start taking the juicer apart.
  • Dont immediately throw away the pulp. Depending on what it contains, you can often use it in baking. If not, it makes excellent compost.

juicerOne of the first things you should think about before you even begin looking at juicers is how much youre willing to spend. The price range for the juicers in this review range dramatically and its a good idea to take a look at what youll be getting for your money.

Of the products we reviewed, the Super Angel Premium Deluxe is at the top of the price range but take a look at what you get with it. Its a masticating juicer with stainless steel twin gears which means its the best vegetable juicer and can easily handle fibrous ingredients like celery and leafy greens. It moves at only 82rpm and makes juice with little to no pulp. Thats not all, it looks like a fine piece of equipment and comes with a few really nice accessories, including two cleaning brushes and a splash guard. It also has a few safety features in place like self-adjusting speed control in the event of a jam as well as a cooling system in case it gets too hot. Plus, the motor and gears are covered for 10 years.

A juicer in the middle of the price range is the Omega Juicers CUBE300S. This is another masticating juicer with a low operating temperature that makes juice you can keep for up to 3days. It has three settings so you can adjust it for soft fruits and leafy greens and an automatic pulp ejector that makes cleanup easy. There are also 6 attachments included so you can use it for a lot of different tasks in your kitchen and its covered by a 15-year warranty.

Now, compare those two products to something at the low end of the price range, the Hamilton Beach 67601A. Its an extremely affordable centrifugal juicer with a wide chute and an extra-large pulp bin so its really convenient. Theres no juice collection container included and it doesnt extract as much juice as a masticating juicer so the pulp is really wet. Plus, the 3-year warranty is one of the best ones around for a juicer of this type.

None of this is to say that these juicers arent all great. The absolutely are or we wouldnt have included them in our review. That said, its important to know what you can expect from what youre willing to spend.

Any masticating juicer is a great choice for wheatgrass. Because of their slow, powerful juicing action, theyre great at tackling tough, fibrous ingredients.

Technically, yes, but you have to do some prep work first. Coconuts are generally too hard to put straight into a juicer. Theyre dry and should be shredded and/or soaked in water before trying to juice them. That said, if you have a juicer with multiple attachments, you might be able to use the food processor attachment to process small chunks of coconut flesh down into smaller, more manageable shreds. Before you do any of this, read the manual that came with your juicer to see if coconut is something the manufacturer recommends avoid. If it is and you try it anyway, it could void your warranty.

It depends on the juicer but heres a basic plan to follow. First, make sure the juicer is unplugged before you do anything. Then start taking the juicer apart as much as you can. Check the manual to see what parts are removable. Start by emptying the pulp collection container and scraping it out with a spatula while running it under warm running water. Use a designated toothbrush or nail brush to get into any small hard to reach areas. The mesh strainer is also something you should pay particular attention to as it tends to collect and build up debris quickly. Next, fill the sink with water and add a little dish soap then soak each removable piece for a few minutes before scrubbing it gently with a soft brush or cloth. Dont forget to wipe down the machine itself with a warm, damp cloth. Make sure you get any sticky residue left behind. Let all of the pieces air dry on towel or drying pad. Once everything is dry, put the juicer back together.

It depends on the juicer and on the nut. Some of the juicers we reviewed come with an attachment thats able to make nut butter so, obviously, you can put nuts into these juicers. Some centrifugal juicers may not be able to handle hard nuts so it might be best to soak the nuts overnight first. Again, read the manual that came with your juicer. If you try it even though the manufacturer has recommended against it, you could put your warranty in jeopardy.

Our Verdict

Our top pick is the Tribest Slowstar SW-2000. It runs at an ultra-slow 47 rpms for amazing cold-pressed juice with minimal oxidation. The powerful 3-stage motor can cut thorough just about anything and produces fewer jams than the competition. We really like the large chute because it helps cut down on prep time and the juice cap is really convenient for helping to avoid spills.

Another great choice is the Omega Juicers NC900HDC, a multi-functional powerhouse that not only makes amazing juice but can also extrude pasta, puree baby food, and whip up nut butters. The dual stage processing system provides maximum juice extraction and the automatic pulp ejector makes it easy and convenient to use.

Finally, the Breville BJE820XL Juice Fountain Duo is the best centrifugal juicer we found in our research. Its built to rival some of the best commercial juicers with 5 speed settings and a stainless steel titanium reinforced blade and micro mesh filter basket. Some of the pieces are dishwasher safe for easy cleanup plus and it even has an override protection that automatically turns the machine off it if runs too hot.
